Windpower for Oil

PyroPhase's Radio Frequency Heating Technology Aids Crude Production

PyroPhase recently issued a press release touting its new ‘clean wind oil’ technology. Unlike many methods currently used for shale-oil extraction, this one doesn’t require water for steam-assist.

By using RF Heating, the company claims that it can ‘store’ the wind energy by heating heavy oil deposits thereby obtaining oil production without CO2 emissions. It further asserts that this technology can ‘stabilize’ the electric grid.

While the oil may be extracted using wind power, the burning of fossil fuels releases CO2. The so-called ‘green-production’ fuel is environmentally destructive because of the CO2 release upon use. The electrical grid ‘stabilization’ presumably occurs when oil is burned to fire power generation.

The PyroPhase company does not yet have details of the process or how it may differ from the Raytheon technology.
