Happiness-Focused Social Media Departments

Instagram is Launching a 'Wellbeing Team' Department

A recent survey conducted by Britain’s Royal Society for Public Health revealed the impact that photo-heavy social media platforms can have on one's mental health, and in response, Instagram launched a new department called the "Wellbeing Team."

This initiative hopes to negate the anxiety, bullying and depression that the platform can foster and is developing a few new tools aimed at lifting the moods of its users, and offering mental health support. Some of the recommendations made to Instagram's wellbeing team include pop-ups that warn users of potentially triggering content as well as the banning of digitally altered photos.

Instagram has not yet commented on whether or not they'll implement these recommendations, but the brand is currently seeking qualified people to fill the role.
