Modern Welded Furniture

The 'Double Zero 'Series Chairs Pair Welded Metal with Colorful Padding

With a desire to create chairs that blended in with the architecture of a building, these pieces of welded furniture were designed for Italian design brand, Moroso. The designer, David Adjaye, did not want the pieces to look like they had been ordered in but rather as if they came as a part of the very room.

The welded furniture is designed in a way that invites the viewer to take a second look. With supportive beams that look like they are barely connected, the power of welding is demonstrated as it connects the pieces in a few, but vital, places. A unique love seat looks like two armless chairs are pushed next to each other, when in reality they are welded together. Simple yet elegant, the chairs feature two circular cushions of the same size and color as the bottom seat and back rest.
