Gibraltar Will Be Home to a 5-Megawatt Wave Energy Power Plant

The famous British territory Gibraltar is all set to receive a 5-megawatt wave energy power station that will enable it to harness, exploit and take advantage of the bountiful and abundant wave energy generated by the waters of the Mediterranean sea, by harvesting electricity from them.

The power plant will be developed and installed by Israel-based company Eco Wave Power, previously well known for its Power Wing and Wind Clapper wave power generation technologies.

This wave energy power plant will take care of as much as 15 percent of Gibraltar's power needs, and will enable the territory to meet renewable energy goals. The project proves that eco-friendly energy projects can successfully be applied in smaller territories, and could be followed by further projects in places as far away as China and Kenya.
