Recycled Bottle Roofing

A Shelter with a Water Bottle Roof Can be Created Using Disaster Donations

This idea for a water bottle roof would provide shelter for disaster victims. The Kickstarter campaign is based on the fact that plastic water bottles and providing access to clean drinking water is often the first priority in terms of offering aid to stricken areas. The HOME2O roof system would recycle these charitable water bottles by providing disaster housing.

This is particularly relevant given the recent catastrophe caused by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. The architects of this project would also make use of the pallets the plastic bottles arrive on to fashion the upcycled roofing. The bottles are crushed and fitted into bottle sized holes. Layers of crushed bottles are placed on top of each other until a viable waterproof water bottle roof is formed.
