Wash-E Makes Cleaning Clothes Efficient and Environmentally Friendly

Pollution is already a problem for overused waterways in many developing countries, and the impact of doing laundry in these rivers contributes even more contaminants. The Wash-E concept is a clothes-washing bucket designed by Hortense Desodt that negates the need for chemical soaps and increases awareness about water toxicity.

An injected plastic tub makes up the high-capacity base of the simple system, and this is capped with a lid and a hand-washing board. Towards the bottom of the textured scrubbing surface you'll see a pair of perforated tubes. These are refillable receptacles for a natural detergent in the form of small ceramic balls. Dunk, rinse and scour your garments this way in the Wash-E and it will not harm the planet. When you're finished, simply reorient the bin and carry it home from the creek by its handle.
