Jim’s Cafe and OpenTable are Revisiting Food Rationing

To mark the 80th anniversary of the start of rationing in the UK, Jim’s Cafe and OpenTable are inviting people to go back in time when they visit the Home Front Café, which serves recreations of wartime meals. Inspired by the rations that British residents survived on starting in the 40s, the menu is full of dishes that contain hardly any meat, sugar, eggs or fat. Some of the reinvented creations include leek and bacon quiche, poached pear and bubble and squeak—a traditional British breakfast dish made from potatoes and cabbage.

Those who visit the one-day Home Front Café pop-up on February 3rd will not only be enjoying a unique three-course meal but also supporting The Royal British Legion.
