Touch-Sensitive Autos

The Volvo Concept 'You' Makes its Debut

This morning, auto enthusiasts got their first glimpse of the Volvo Concept 'You' at the Frankfurt Motor Show. This new and improved model is destined to be the new benchmark by which all future Volvos are measured. Inspired by the impressive body of work by Danish design house Georg Jensen, Volvo designers chose to outfit the interior with organic fabrics, like leather, suede, suit fabric and Kasthall carpet for a feeling of quiet luxury. The body of the car is clean and refined, promoting an image of effortless elegance.

The Concept 'You' is exceptional not just because of its beauty, it has a good deal of substance too; it is one of the most intuitive cars on the market today. Outfitted with smart pad technology, the car is able to not just respond to your finger tips, but to your movements as well. There are a total of four touch screens in this auto each equipped with hidden infrared cameras that register the hand and eye movements of the occupants. The capabilities and options available on the touch screen adjust depending on whether the camera registers movement in the front or back seat. For instance, the Digital Driver Info Monitor will not spring to life unless approached by a front seat passenger. The impressive display of smart pad technology makes for a cleaner more streamlined interior, free of bulky knobs and dials. With its intuitive handling and stunning design, the Volvo Concept 'You' is sure to turn more than a few heads.
