Compact Electric Concept Cars

The Visio.M Electric Car is Surprisingly Lightweight

The Visio.M is a two-seater electric car whose development was funded by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research, and whose design was carried out by a consortium of companies including BMW and Daimler.

The Visio.M's 20-horsepower electric motor somehow helps the car attain a top speed of 120 km/h and a range of about 160 km with two passengers and luggage. Its 13.5-Kilowatt/hour lithium-ion battery pack can be charged from a 230-volt socket in just three to four hours.

The car is astonishingly lightweight, weighing in at only 535 kg, battery included. This is thanks to the liberal use of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic in its construction, and the use of polycarbonate windows.

The Visio.M is currently on display at the eCarTec trade fair in Munich, with no word yet on when it might be available commercially.
