Gatorade Puts Fans in the Shoes of Bryce Harper

Gatorade has enlisted the help of baseball player Bryce Harper to star in its new virtual reality (VR) baseball commercials.

The brand seeks to put fans in the shoes of Harper through an innovative and immersive marketing campaign that allows for far more interactivity than ever before. The campaign merges real action video with computer-generated images to recreate the view, sound and feel of a real-life major league at bat.

The ads will be available on YouTube 360, and will allow viewers to alter their view, using a directional pad, creating a far more realistic experience. The ads can also be viewed using virtual reality attachments like Google Cardboard.

Gatorade is experimenting with its virtual reality commercials to "remain on the cutting edge of technology." Kenny Mitchell, one of Gatorade's senior directors, believes that VR is one of the platforms of the future.
