Artists often prefer to hold a pen, even when rendering digital art. If Yana Klimava's concept Virtuo ever went into production, artists will be able to paint with a digital brush and work with a digital paint palette. The ability to mix colors like a traditional artist will ease the transition from actual paints to the digital screen--and also save a whole of paint!
The palette will use Bluetooth technology for communication with the computer. LED lights in the palette stand in place of the paint colors. How much paint is loaded on the 'brush' is deteremined by how long the artist holds the digital brush in a particular color. Other tools include a pencil, pastel, airbrush, and a palette knife. To mimic the actual force and strokes used by artists, the tools will be equipped with pressure and accelerometer sensors.
There will only be a minimal amount of 'undos' allowed. The software follows closely what happens in reality. Paint once applied cannot be removed. Mistakes will have to be painted over.
