Offset Volume Abodes

The D1 House by Vincent Coste Cascades Down a Cliff

Trying to build a house on a cliff comes with its pros and cons, and Vincent Coste weighed both and saw the advantages over the negatives. He built the D1 house on a serious incline, but managed to adjust the structure so everything came together in the end.

The house is comprised of offset volumes, with each section of the abode clear from the outside. He uses almost cube-like shapes for this separation, which adds to the modernity of the place. The back area comes equipped with a pool overlooking the ocean and plenty of deck space to relax. Gazing out over the water from such a height every day is certainly one of the advantages of living on a cliff. Photo Credits: designboom, vincentcoste
