Sony Filed a Patent for Smart Contact Lenses That Take Videos and Photos

According to an application filed with the U.S. patent office, Sony has filed a patent for video-recording smart contact lenses.

The intended plan is for the lenses to take photos, videos and even store data. The contact lenses would not require that they be tethered to a smartphone in order to work. The patent reveals that the lens would feature an organic electroluminescence display screen and would be controlled through blinking.

The camera will have a focus feature as well as an adjustable zoom feature, and the lenses will also be able to play back the recorded video.

While it would not be the first "smart" contact lens on the market, the features of this potential invention could change the way we see the world -- or at least help us remember how we see it.
