Daniel A. Becker has come up with this cool new computer program that creates what looks like flowers or trees out of barcodes. The UPCs (universal product codes) are found worldwide on almost everything we buy. The program he created is called Barcode Plantage and is the 2008 winner of the :output Grand Prix Award.
Using Becker's program, one scans or keys in the bar code and the program converts the information into various colours and curves, generating a one of a kind 'tree'. Boring black lines flow into colourful flowers. This is fun with technology.
