Path-Projecting Car Signals

Mitsubishi is Designing Turn Signals That Warn Pedestrians & Cyclists

Mitsubishi Electric is developing LED turn signals that warn pedestrians when a vehicle is going to turn and in what direction. While current turn signals are relatively small and meant to show cars behind when and where they are turning, these new lights will project large paths ahead that show exactly where the car will be traveling.

The new indicator system will warn when a car is backing up, going forward or turning left and right. The cars will also flash LED lights to warn cyclists when a door is going to open, saving many accidents from occurring when surprise doors pop open out of nowhere. The new light system will reduce collisions without draining a car's electricity by much.
