Government Web Control

Turkey's Extreme Blog Censorship

After months of spotty access to YouTube, Turkish authorities have now banned reach to Blogger.com. Thousands of bloggers cannot reach their blogs, and readers cannot read blogs hosted on Blogger.

In Turkey, it is very easy to have a site or a blog panned, or to prevent access to it. If a citizen wanted a specific site taken down, all they have to do is go to a local court, and provide the URL.

The ruling for the new Turkish blog ban comes from a Diyarbakir court. Until now, there has been no reason given for the ban.
