Artist Mark Dion and marine biologist Lisa-Ann Gershwin created this unique installation called 'The Trouble with Jellyfish' as part of a Massachusetts exhibition. This particular installation is a simulation where guests can actively experience the environmental stress and impact of jellyfish blooms.
As jellyfish continue to thrive within oceans and increase their population, the species is creating an oxygen reduction within the water. These negative results will actually destroy the ability for other species to live and survive. The oxygen deficiency process is called hypoxia.
'The Trouble with Jellyfish' aims to create a unique experience where guests will embrace the feelings of reduced oxygen. In order to understand the detrimental process, this immersive environment will deepen each viewer's understanding of hypoxia. The installation will be open at the Le Laboratoire Cambridge until the January of 2016.
