Stunning Brick Triplex Apartments

Valentí Albareda Spotlights Arched Openings in Barcelona Flats

This absolutely stunning triplex apartment by locally based studio Valentí Albareda has a rich history. Designed for a young couple from Ibiza and Dubai, the flat in Barcelona features some striking elements that make it unique.

Prior to the intervention of the architectural practice, the spacious triplex apartment was a banana warehouse that was "partially destroyed by a number of air raids during the Spanish civil war." Located in a vibrant neighborhood in the city, the building's historic aesthetics — ones that potentially date back to the early 1900s when the building was erected, make a strong impression.

Valentí Albareda's aim was to repair the "crumbling brick surfaces" of the triplex apartment while improving the quality and the function of the space.
