Subway Stop Touchscreens

The MTA in New York Introduces the 'On the Go! Travel Station'

With touchscreens becoming a part of many individuals everyday lives in a variety of spheres, it was only a matter of time before the 'On the Go! Travel Station' became a reality at Bowling Green subway station in Lower Manhattan.

The device was introduced by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of New York, and is basically a 47-inch touchscreen that riders can use for finding information about the subway and the neighborhood. Subway information includes the usual travel maps and travel directions, and also information on service changes and whether elevators are working at the destination stations. This would come in handy for people using wheelchairs and parents traveling with bulky strollers. The above-ground information includes information maps and travel directions, and also places to dine or shop at. Definitely a bonus for tourists riding the subway!
