Pain-Relieving Robotic Gloves

NASA Created a Useful Tool Glove That Reduces Stress on Workers

The 'RoboGlove' is a tool glove developed by NASA that recreates the movements of a human hand in order to stimulate higher levels of dexterity.

The robotic gloves work by decreasing stress on the hand, allowing its wearers to complete tasks more efficiently and with less damage to their bodies. A battery pack that comes along with the gloves holds actuators and micro-controllers, as well as power.

The tool gloves were created in collaboration with General Motors, with both companies working over the years to develop the RoboGlove. Kurt Wiese, the vice president of GM global manufacturing engineering explained that "The successor to RoboGlove can reduce the amount of force that a worker needs to exert when operating a tool for an extended time or with repetitive motions."
