The Tibet Solar Power Plant Will Sit 13,000 Feet Above Sea Level

The recently announced Tibet solar power plant is already being touted as one of the world's tallest. The Tibet solar power plant is set to be constructed in the Tibetan Plateau by Suntech Power Holdings, Inc.

The plant is being designed to combat the climate change that is slowly starting to affect Tibet's ability to produce hydroelectric power. The Tibet solar power plant is expected to generate around 20,000 MWh of clean electricity a year, a number too small to power the country but large enough to have a significant contribution during power shortages.
