H&M Launches a Resale Platform in Cooperation with ThredUp

H&M US is partnering with ThredUp, a resale platform for preloved goods, to launch a new secondhand program called ‘H&M Pre-Loved.’ The offered goods will be divided into categories such as ‘&Denim,’ ‘Sport,’ ‘Women,’ ‘Divided,’ and ‘Kids,’ corresponding to the retailer's traditional sections. Moreover, customers will be able to buy goods from the ‘Collabs’ sub-shop, which will feature things from notable partnerships and guest designer collections.

"We need to take responsibility for the impact fashion has on climate and the environment. Circular business models can help us reduce and limit this negative impact, while continuing to deliver fashion and style for our customers", explains Abigail Kammerzell, head of sustainability at H&M North America.

On March 14, the ‘H&M Pre-Loved’ online store will open. The company hopes to dismantle linear business models with this initiative.
