Meta Announced its Working on a Fact-Checking Tool for Threads

Meta announced that it is planning to launch a Threads fact-checking system in order to combat misinformation on the platform. Announced by Adam Mosseri, the CEO of Instagram, the tool will be native to Threads and will enable fact-checking partners to verify posts on the site. Mosseri clarified that Threads currently borrows fact-checked ratings from Instagram and Facebook, but this does not benefit content that originated on Threads.

The tool is expected to function similarly to the Community Notes tool on Twitter, which allows verified fact-checkers to either vouch for, or show evidence against, the validity of a post. Mosseri did not state how the tool would look, but it will nonetheless be clear for the reader whether or not a post has been verified, or disproven.
