Trashy Car Art

The 'Think Blue Beetle' is Made Using Old Bottle Caps and Computer Parts

Mumbai sculptor Haribaabu Naatesan has created a the Think Blue Beetle; a Bug made entirely out of trash. Naatesan created this life-sized replica using 2,805 pieces of trash. The car consists of 800 drink lids, 800 spark plugs, 200 bottle caps, 60 motherboards and tons of other pieces of e-waste and random garbage. Collecting 2,805 pieces of trash is no small project, and Naatesan spent 16 days collecting all the materials necessary to create his Volkswagen Beetle trash sculpture.

This trashy piece of car art was created as part of VW's environmentally friendly Think Blue Campaign. The Think Blue Beetle is currently on display at Mumbai's Kala Ghoda arts festival and will be moved to Germany once the festival ends. You can check out a time-lapse video of the sculpture being created here.
