The Des Moines-based business Thelma's Treats has created a clever shipping box for its freshly baked cookies. While many brands look for unique ways to convey the quality of their products, this company has taken a very literal approach.
Thelma's Treats is a cookie company that co-owner Dereck Lewis named after his great-grandmother. In order to recreate the "sense of joy of getting warm cookies from grandma," Lewis and his mother sought to create a unique shipping box for their cookie deliveries. As a result, they teamed up with Saturday Manufacturing to create a box that looks like a real oven. The cookies are stored on trays inside the box that can be pulled out through a flap at the front. The box is even printed with stovetop burners and control knobs to fully recreate the look of a 1950s-style oven.
The oven-shaped box demonstrates how companies can use their packaging to convey their brand identity in a fun, yet functional way.
