Record-Breaking Animations

'Gulp' by Sumo Science is the World's Largest Stop Motion Film

'Gulp' by Sumo Science is one of the best films in the world, and not because of the story, but through its original delivery.

'Gulp' is a short film from the Sumo Science duo Ed Patterson and Will Stud, who amaze viewers once more after their Nokia short film 'Dot,' which claimed the Guinness World Record for the smallest stop-motion character in a film. The project was a huge online success with 3 million hits and 15 major advertising awards.

With Gulp by Sumo Science, the makers managed to break the world record for the largest stop-motion animation film. The movie was shot with a 12 megapixel camera on a Nokia N8 fixed on a crane, while a whole team raked and smoothed out 11,000 m2 of sand on a beach in South Wales. A full scale boat and an actor was used to tell the story of a fisherman at sea.
