The Vaccines Compile a Music Video Using Donated Insta.gram Shots

In the hopes of including their audience in the creative process, London-based band The Vaccines have asked fans to send in photos taken using insta.gram, an iPhone camera application, in order to develop a complete music video for their new single Wetsuits.

Before you start snapping shots of yourself for the music video, the band have a few specifications: Photos taken at parties and music festivals are ideal; muddied hair, smiling faces and torn clothes. By either hashtagging (#vaccinesvideo) or uploading your kodak moments to the band's website, you could appear in the music video, albeit for a fraction of a second.

Other bands have certainly stitched fan photos together for the purposes of a music video, but The Vaccines are genuinely exploiting the utility of social media to easily collaborate with their supporters. If anything, this process will likely be imitated as it effortlessly curries interest in the band while delegating the responsibilities of video production -- ingenious!
