Komuso Design Created 'The Shift' to Decrease Stress and Anxiety

The Shift is a new breathing tool from Komuso Design that aims to help consumers refocus on their breath. The product was designed by a psychotherapist, and takes inspiration from komusō monks in Japan, who have mastered an intensive meditative practice.

The small breathing tool is designed to be as portable and convenient to use as possible, ensuring that consumers can always have it accessible when they need it most. The Shift works by elongating the user's exhale, so that they can breath out for 8 to 10 seconds—the time it takes for the "parasympathetic nervous system to reverse the physiological symptoms of stress and anxiety." As Komuso Design explains, The Shift can help to decrease stress hormones, slow down heartbeat, decrease blood pressure, and loosen up muscles.
