The Khaleesi is an ultra-tall and ultra-psychedelic skyscraper that is being mooted for New York City.
There are some pretty trippy-looking skyscrapers out there, but the Khaleesi will look like something out of an Escher painting. Developed by Mark Foster Gage, architect and assistant dean of the Yale School of Architecture, the Khaleesi will be decorated with gargoyle-like shapes made of limestone-tinted panels which will sheathe the facade, giving it an extremely glitchy and Art Deco sort of appearance. Ultimately, the building features a design that appears to skip more than a generation in one fell swoop, and has a look and feel that make it belong in the year 3015 if anything.
This building looks so audacious that it seems nearly implausible, but this is exactly what makes it such a great fit for New York City.
