'The End of Sitting' Challenges Traditional Workplace Design

The End of Sitting is an installation, currently installed in the Looiersgracht 60 Gallery in Amsterdam, that challenges traditional conceptions of what an office workspace should look and feel like. The installation is part artproject and part interior design concept.

The installation is completely and intentionally devoid of chairs and desks, eschewing them in favor of a series of seemingly random angled shapes, slabs and surfaces can be leaned on, sat on and lied upon. The variety of surfaces and angles are seemingly designed to prevent people from working too long in one single position. Sitting for long periods of time as we do in traditional workspaces is known to be bad for health, and The End of Sitting aims to drive home that point.
