Virtual Dinner Parties

The Doghouse Puts People Around the Table for an Awkward Family Dinner

The Doghouse is a virtual reality short film experience that puts participants around a table for a virtual reality dinner. Using an Oculus Rift headset, people get to experience the film from one family member's perspective.

The plot of the film is that a new girlfriend is brought home to meet the family over dinner. But rather than getting the full story through one viewing, the full story is only apparent as each perspective has been experienced. This is because viewers only hear the inner monologue of the person they are taking the spot of at the table.

The Doghouse's producer Mads Damsbo describes that in this way of storytelling: "As you experience the film from each of these characters' perspectives, you get 1/5 of the truth. You see a subjective reality."
