Powerful Protest Installations

The Day of Anger Exhibit Relays Frustration Through Artwork

The Milan Stock Exchange has been the target of this year's La Giornata della Collera, also known as The Day of Anger. The event is representative of the city's economic devastation, seen in the recent loss of 157,000 companies and approximately 893,000 employees.

Mounting frustration has been brought to the Milan fore via artwork here. Thousands of workers joined forces to produce the installation as 10,000 yellow construction hats were layered neatly next to one another. Placed squarely in the center of the powerful demonstration is Maurizio Cattelan's abrasive middle finger structure, making no attempt to mask the anger of the participants. With architects, real estate representatives and hard laborers involved in the protest, it will certainly be a talking point among Milan's bureaucrats.
