Optimally Ventilated Workspaces

The Breathing Office by Creative Inc. Maximizes Natural Air Flow

As populations in urban areas increase, so do emissions and energy consumption from increased use of things like air conditioning. Indonesia-based architecture firm Creative Inc. hopes to solve this problem with its new project, The Breathing Office.

The Breathing Office is a concept that aims to maximize natural air flow and create optimal ventilation in office buildings. To do so, the architects have designed The Breathing Office to include a large opening at one corner of the building; this open corner allows for natural, "pure" air to flow in and "impure" air to flow out of the structure. In addition, The Breathing Office will be constructed of perforated materials, which will enhance the structure's strength and durability. Vines will be planted around the building to help "purify the surrounding air" as well, describes EcoFriend.
Trend Themes
1. Maximized Natural Air Flow - The trend of maximizing natural air flow in office buildings presents opportunities for designers and architects to create innovative ventilation systems that reduce the reliance on energy-consuming air conditioning.
2. Perforated Materials - The trend of using perforated materials in construction enables architects to enhance the strength and durability of buildings while also allowing for improved ventilation and air circulation.
3. Air Purifying Vines - The trend of incorporating air purifying vines in building design offers the potential for architects to create greener and healthier workspaces by utilizing natural plants to improve air quality.
Industry Implications
1. Architecture - The architecture industry can leverage the trend of maximizing natural air flow to design sustainable and energy-efficient buildings that prioritize optimal ventilation.
2. Construction - The construction industry can embrace the trend of using perforated materials to innovate building techniques that enhance durability, while also promoting better air circulation and ventilation.
3. Interior Design - The interior design industry can explore the trend of incorporating air purifying vines in building interiors to create more biophilic and healthy workspaces for employees.
