The Toronto-based startup is currently run by a small five-person team, each of which have extensive backgrounds in sustainability and hospitality. The team at the terus startup uses this expertise to not only minimize trash and waste output but does so in a way that fits specifically to a restaurant's business models.

Many of the changes offered by terus focus on operational flow and the startup has already worked closely with restaurants like Cafe CanCan. Initiatives like switching takeout container providers, removing straws and other plastic disposables and switching to LED candles are common practice for terus, and in one case saved a restaurant $1,800 in the first year alone. The terus startup also offers one-hour training sessions for staff, to better educate employees on understanding the impact non-plastic objects can have on the environment.
