Kiyakabin is a vacation resort on Lombok's western coast and its accommodating charred teak cabins are the work of Indonesian architecture office Atelier Riri.
The rectangular units are arranged around a shared swimming pool and the resort offers sweeping views of the Bali Sea. The facades of the teak cabins are quite interesting and they are well-rooted in contemporary design sensibilities. Atelier Riri contributed to its client's business with three units for guests and a shared restaurant. The layout of these charred volumes is important to note as the architecture studio strategically placed everything to "evoke the character of villages constructed by the local Sasak ethnic group."
In addition, to enhance the sustainable factor of the project, the teak cabins were constructed using locally sourced materials.
