The 'Taste of the Arctic' Event Celebrate Canada's Inuit Population

'Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami' recently held an event called 'A Taste of the Arctic,' which gives influential Canadian foodies a chance to sample traditional Northern cuisine. While Canada is largely known for poutine and Nanaimo bars, the kind of dishes enjoyed in Canada's far north are vastly different. This event celebrated Canada's Arctic cuisine by showcasing some of the traditional dishes enjoyed by the Inuit people.

A Taste of the Arctic was held at Ottawa's National Arts Centre on March 7th, 2016. The event featured traditional Inuit food served by executive sous chef Martin Lévesque. All of the dishes were made from unique Arctic ingredients such as caribou, seal, muskox, Arctic berries and even narwhal blubber. In addition to the delicious food, guests were also treated to traditional performances that celebrate Inuit culture.
