Japanese designer Takeshi Sano has created a masterpiece on the ceiling of the Tsujita restaurant in Los Angeles, California. This cloudy topside covering is made entirely from timber to create the detailing. The artist described his inspiration behind the project saying that "There is IZUMO shrine, one of the most important shrine in Shimane Japan. The clouds we can see there, has beauty but mysterious image. I wanted to show those images on this design." Takeshi Sano had to concentrate mainly on how he could manipulate the wood so that it could look as true to nature a possible. He wanted the space that art exists in to blend with the interior.
Takeshi Sano certainly had his home country in mind when he was working on this installation, hoping that it would remind people of the beauty of Japan and that they would want to visit the country after they looked at his stunning celling creation. It has already worked on one observer and admirer, me.
