The Surf Indicating Lamp by Max Ashford Informs People of Forecast

Some people don't need an alarm to wake up for a meeting, but instead require something along the lines of the Surf Indicating Lamp. It is a light fixture that informs surfers of the weather and wave conditions for the day. Tapping into local news through Magic Seaweed, a surf forecasting website, the Surf Indicating Lamp provides quick and easily digestible data.

Designed by Max Ashford, an industrial designer based in Falmouth, United Kingdom, the Surf Indicating Lamp looks like a tissue box. Made out of cork and laser cut acrylic, the 'tissue' that rises from the box is actually meant to represent a wave. According to the designer, a "red light indicates the surf is flat, blue light indicates medium surf and green light indicates big surf."
