The groundbreaking project 'Stone Spray' Installation by Novikov, Shergill and Kulik explores the boundaries of sand as an art medium.
Created by Petr Novikov, Inder Shergill and Anna Kulik, this installation is one of a kind. Its utilizes a method where the base material is sand that solidifies into sculptures. "The device uses an Arduino UNO, Processing application and a custom built jet spray system to deposit the mix of soil and binder," says Creative Applications of Stone Spray.
The results are 3D-printed sculptures that rival and beat the average structure built with sand granules. This exploration of a vastly different medium to create art is boundary-pushing in its utilization of technology. The Stone Spray device has potential for utility in its ability to fill intricate spaces.
