Stained Chair Embodies a Stark Composition with a Chaotic Finish

Two very different stylistic decisions conflict within the Stained Chair, created by Studio Paakkanen of Finland and enhanced with the art of EGS. It began as a rigid and colorless lounger and turned into a more exciting seat with wacky black accents.

Without the graffitied finish, the recliner can certainly be appreciated for its contemporary form. Inspired, perhaps, by modern furniture designers like the Eames and Gerrit Rietveld, the piece has a multifaceted body that's been made by joining flat panels together at various angles. The backrest and the seat alone comprise four separate sections; meanwhile, very thin armrests extend from the lip of the Stained Chair, sloping up at a sharp angle. The armchair is instantly brought forward 50 years with the expressive spray-painted decoration.
