On May 1st 2010 the architectural and design world will converge on Shanghai. First glimpses of some of the nations participating have started to trickle in and here is the Spanish Pavilion at the Shanghai Expo 2010.
Designed by Miralled Tagliabue (EMBT) a Barcelona-based firm, which won a public contest to design the Spanish entry, the project's aim was to be a model for the coexistence of technology and nature. The Spanish Pavilion for the Shanghai Expo 2010 looks like a warped pine cone with giant overlapping wicker shingles over a steel structure.
