Trash-Fuelled Airways

British Airways is Working with Solena Fuels for an Eco-Friendly Alternative

Flying a massive 747 plane all over the world not only costs a lot of money, but burns excessive amounts of fuel, which is why British Airways is working with Solena Fuels to come up with an eco-friendly alternative.

Solena Fuels transforms garbage into biofuel, which could be used to power airplanes. The experiment is known as the London Green Sky Project, which will hopefully lessen the carbon footprint of this massive corporate airline and influence other aircraft carriers to follow suit.

According to PSFK, "Green Sky will use the existing waste collection system to pick up household trash and take advantage of the electricity infrastructure that supplied the refinery in the past." An oil refinery is being used as the site for the project, which is equipped to deal with this transformation of large amounts of waste.
