Sun Power Storage

Solar Pod by Valmik Vyas Absorbs the Sun's Rays for Later

Philadelphia-based designer and architect Valmik Vyas has designed this innovative solar power storage system called the Solar Pod.

Created in the form of a flower, the Solar Pod's design is inspired by both nature and autos. It "blooms" during the day to absorb solar power, and once the sun sets, it closes. This is made possible by a lining of solar collectors in the interior of the Solar Pod, which, according to Ecofriend, "symbolically holds forth the fruit for effective future replacement of fossil fuels."

This innovative black and gold metallic system, which stands 14 feet tall, allows for the storage of the sun's energy. This means that solar power can be accessed when it is really needed, rather than only when the sun is out. As Ecofriend points out, an innovation like this would be perfect for lengthy events and gatherings that require long hours of energy.
