Architect L. McComber showcased 'Celsius,' a new solar-heated igloo at Montreal's Igloofest this year.
The Celsuis is a fully solar-powered igloo, built to be a temporary winter home and a quiet, warm place to escape the city. The project is a contemporary take on the traditional Igloo shelter and uses solar power to provide enough energy needed to heat and illuminate it.
This temporary home features a light wooden frame covered in a black air barrier and resembles a classic Igloo from its shape. Offering an extreme contrast to the cold temperature and bustling energy of the outside world, the shelter changes as soon as one walks inside.
This artistic solar heated igloo can be visited in person this month.
