Energy-Harnessed Cycle Paths

The Sola Road Project to be Applied to the Province of Holland

Thanks to the Sola Road Project, we have another eco-friendly, energy-harnessing initiative underway. Although solar-powered roads aren't a new concept, applying them to cycle paths is.

Developed by Dutch innovation consultancy TNO, the Sola Road Project hopes to be applied in the Province of North Holland. According to Big Think, the "Sola Road consists of concrete panels with embedded thick crystalline silicon solar cells, covered by a toughened glass surface" which maximizes energy retention during peak sunlight times and stores it during low-light periods.
