Smooth-Riding Snow Bikes

This Bike Brings Together Different Elements of Winter Bikes

A group of mechanical engineering students at the University of Sherbrooke in Quebec, Canada are developing a snow bike that offers an exceedingly smooth downhill ride by bringing together several different components and elements of conventional winter bikes. This bike, designed for the students' Avalanche Project, is designed to mimic the feeling of summer downhill biking and is targeted towards experienced downhill mountain bikers.

This snow bike comes with a snow-braking system that tilts the front skis inward, creating a V-shaped plow for safe braking. Meanwhile the bike's wheels are equipped with notches that move the track along, providing suitable traction in the snow.

This snow bike is strictly an educational project and isn't something expected to be commercially available, but that doesn't make it any less of an engineering marvel and inspiration.
