The Slow Glow Lamp Changes Intensity as It Heats Up

The Slow Glow Lamp is a unique light fixture that burns vegetable fat. While some might assume that it is powered by such bio materials, that is not the case at all. Instead, the bulging bulb is filled with the fat, which surrounds the light source. The heat of the light effectively melts the fat into a transparent goo, changing the intensity of the glow as time passes. Once turned off, the fat returns to its natural state.

Designed by NEXT architects in collaboration with Aura Luz Melis, the Slow Glow Lamp was created for Droog Design. The Slow Glow Lamp has a cork base to help prop it on table surfaces. A black cord runs from the tip of the light to the outlet for power.
