SlimeVR Launched a CrowdSupply for its Proprietary Device

In a new campaign on 'CrowdSupply,' a platform similar to Kickstarter, SlimeVR is fundraising for its proprietary full-body tracking device. This device is accurate and ultra-lightweight, with each tracking node being only a few inches wide. The SlimeVR works through inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensors, which detect movement speed and direction. These sensors then communicate the data to the PC that is running the VR simulation.

The SlimeVR is available in several different bundles, with each bundle increasing the amount of included sensors. The smallest bundle includes five IMU nodes attached to a strap which are meant to be worn on the waist, knees, and feet. The largest bundle features ten trackers with six extensions to enhance the accuracy of the trackers. These trackers are worn on several positions across the waist, arms, and lower body to deliver true-to-life tracking. It is important to note, however, that many simple VR applications, such as 'VR Chat,' only support five-node tracking.
