On a backdrop of the flag’s red and yellow, stylist Joseph Episcopo layers bight colors, lush textures and jeweled appliqués reminiscent of flamboyant flamenco costumes. He revisits the timeless Spanish staples of lace and red floral prints with modern designs by Donna Karan, Gucci and Emilio Pucci. These colorful studio shots pay homage to the Iberian Peninsula by playfully incorporating traditional elements such as matador accessories, fringed shawls and lace fans. Joseph Episcopo even ventures as far as referencing Spain’s strong catholic history by incorporating to one of his devastatingly feminine looks a cross pendant, transforming Kelsey Van Mook into a colorful virgin saint.
