Starbucks is Implementing a New 'Siren System' for Drink Making

Starbucks is looking to streamline operations with the help of a new drink-making process called the 'Siren System.'

Officially, Starbucks has dubbed the new Siren System "a proprietary new equipment innovation designed to meet the growing demand for customization of hot and cold beverages and warm foods." In other words, Starbucks is looking to improve its drink-making process in order to keep up with the overwhelming demand for custom drinks, largely generated through mobile ordering.

The Siren System aims to improve the workflow of the cold beverage station, the brewing of cold brew and drip coffee, and the process of warming up food items. For instance, the new cold beverage station workflow consists of an assembly line-type process whereby a barista would start at one end and finish at the other end. Another example of the new innovations includes a switch from batch-brewing to single-cup brewing of drip coffee using a new automated Clover Vertica brewer.

Ultimately, the new changes are meant to make the Starbucks experience better for customers and for staff.
